How important is color to you in the potato chip aisle of your local supermarket? Do you use it to find the chips you’re looking for? Do you see the blue of Ruffles before you can read Ruffles? If Doritos Nacho Cheese changed the packaging to yellow – would you find it as easily as you do now? How can a color make an impact among ALL THAT COLOR? If you have a room full of a 100 clowns – how easy is it to find the one with the green dots on his face? Color should be your identifier. It should separate you from all the other noise. Color should be taken advantage of and made your own. But if you have 14 colors on your stuff, what is your color? You must show restraint, discipline and remember that all emphasis is no emphasis. Surgically placed color with precision and intent – now that works. Throwing a couple gallons of paint against your wall? Probably not a good idea. Pretty simple: Use it, don’t abuse it – applies to a lot of things, I guess.
